The definitive guide to Rotomolding and Rotational Molding

Categories: news

In this post, we will discuss Rotomolding, also called rotational molding. Our guide to rotomoulding offers you essential information.

Plastics are processed and molded in many different ways. Rotomould service in China uses another standard method and injection molding and blow molding.

Let's discuss rotomoulding basics first.

  1. Incorporate powdered plastic materials into the mold;
  2. continuously rotate and heat the mold;
  3. The plastic raw materials in the mold gradually melt, forming an even coating across the entire surface under the influence of gravity and thermal energy;
  4. We obtained rotationally molded plastic products after cooling and demolding the mold.

We should also learn about the rotomoulding production process.

This production process consists of six steps:

From feeding to heating and rolling to cooling to demolding, cleaning the mold, and processing the product

Here is a breakdown of each step.

  1. Following accurate measurement, pour the powder resin and various additives (sometimes necessary to mix all materials) into the rotation mold. During rotation, lock the mold to prevent the fabric from leaking out as it closes.
  2. Place the mold inside the furnace to heat and roll it. As the mold oscillates, it heats continuously. With the mold along with two perpendicular axes rotating, the decay of the material is slid downward in the direction of rotation so that it comes into contact with the cavity wall under gravity's action. While the plastic is plasticizing and adhering to the mold walls, the heat from the inside of the mold causes its materials to adhere to its entire surface to create the plastic products we need.
  3. As the material inside the mold is rotated and heated, it adheres uniformly to the mold. After the plastic has fully hardened, the molded plastic is cooled to stabilize its shape.
  4. After the machine stops rotating, open the mold and remove the plastic product, usually done by hand. When producing in large quantities, they also use mechanical demoulding.
  5. Following the removal of the product, the mold is cleaned. To prepare for the next cycle of plastic rolling, clean the die cavity and the die closing place of any debris remaining.
  6. Product processing includes incisions, covers, accessories, and other auxiliary operations. There are different processes for different products.

Your knowledge of the rotomoulding process has now improved.

Lastly, we will talk to you about rotational molding's disadvantages.

Let's get straight to the point.

  1. Mass production is not suitable for the long processing cycle;
  2. Energy is not utilized efficiently. A large amount of energy is wasted during the liquefaction of oil;
  3. The selection of molding materials is limited. Rotomoulding currently only allows the use of a limited number of materials. Rotational molding is also required for nylon, polycarbonate, ABS, and other materials, but their applications are limited;
  4. The materials are more expensive. Special additives must be added and fine powder created;
  5. The shape of some products makes molding more challenging;
  6. It is more difficult to open and feed raw materials into each discharge product than blow molding. It requires more workers.

We will find that blow molding offers several significant advantages over rotomolding.

Examples include:

  1. Blowing molding products have high strength;
  2. 30% of the weight can be reduced;
  3. 50% of the workforce can be concentrated;
  4. 68% of the energy consumption per unit can be reduced;
  5. 70 times as much output can be generated;
  6. environmental protection, energy conservation.

Conclusion:

It has increasingly become impossible to meet production requirements with rotomoulding, the only standard plastic molding process method. The most common plastic molding method is blow molding, and rotomoulding Cheap price in China goes hand in hand.
